I attempted to make homemade ghee this morning, and I think it went pretty well. It wasn’t that difficult, even for a newbie like me. And my kitchen now smells like buttery heaven. Recipes were found here (without adding the coconut oil), here, and here. There are many of them out there if you Google “homemade ghee”.
This is one pound of cultured unsalted Organic Valley butter.
This is the result – one pint of ghee, cooling.
I can’t wait to fry some eggs in this goodness tomorrow morning for breakfast. I almost want to dip a spoon in that jar and eat it straight up. Did I mention the fact that my kitchen smells like wonderful buttery heaven?
